Massage Therapy Diploma
In our Massage Therapy Diploma Course at Cosmic College, we embark on a transformative journey that transcends mere technique, immersing ourselves in the artistry and precision of therapeutic touch. In our Massage Therapy Diploma we educate and train our students to assess soft tissues and joints of the body for treatment and prevention of dysfunction, injury, pain, and physical disorders which is the key component of the practice of Massage Therapist. Massage therapy can be used for acute, chronic, and preventative impairments for physical and psychological health and well-being in children or adults of all ages. It helps for stress reduction, pain relief, improved circulation, enhanced muscle function, boosted immune system, improves sleep quality, mental well-being, and injury rehabilitation.

Completion of these rigorous Certification Exams paves the way for registration with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and bestows the privilege to utilize the esteemed titles, “Massage Therapist” and “Registered Massage Therapist.”

2. The approved qualifying test for this program is the Wonderlic test. A passing score for this program is 14.
3. Student must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
4. Student must provide proof of grade 12 English or English proficiency.
5. Cosmic College Medical Check Form (completed within 45 days of program start date)
6. Student must provide proof of experiencing a full body massage from a Registered Massage Therapist.
*Applicants from other Canadian provinces must be at least 19 years of age and a minimum of 1 year out of high school by the program start date and successfully pass an academic achievement test.
**CMTO English Proficiency requirements: Please note that for students to successfully register for his/her provincial license to practice after writing the board exams, he/she must meet the College of Massage Therapy of Ontario’s minimum language requirements:

How much money can a massage therapist make?
On average, most massage therapy sessions cost between $60 – $200 per one-hour session. Your income will vary significantly based on how much you charge and how many clients you see daily. As you gain experience, build your clientele, and potentially specialize in specific massage techniques, you’ll have the opportunity to charge more and increase your earnings.

Anatomy & Physiology Series
MTD-201 – Anatomy & Physiology 1
Students will learn the building blocks of the human body, including cells, tissues, and the integumentary, skeletal, and muscular systems. This course introduces foundational physiological principles essential to understanding health and healing.
MTD-202 – Anatomy & Physiology 2
Focusing on circulation, immunity, and fluid balance, students explore the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems, hormonal regulation, and the body’s stress and thermoregulation responses.
MTD-203 – Anatomy & Physiology 3
Students study microbiology, immunity, and respiratory physiology with an emphasis on disease prevention, infection control, and the body’s defense mechanisms.
MTD-204 – Anatomy & Physiology 4
This course covers nutrition, digestion, metabolism, and absorption. Students learn how dietary choices influence systemic health and disease progression.
Anatomy and Palpation Series
MTD-205 – Anatomy & Palpation Lab 1
Through guided theory and lab work, students develop palpation skills while identifying bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments across all body regions.
MTD-206 – Anatomy & Palpation Lab 2
Students will explore visceral anatomy and refine their palpation skills with focus on the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urogenital systems, and soft tissue structures.
Massage Techniques and Clinical Foundations
MTD-207 – Massage Theory and Techniques
Students are introduced to foundational massage techniques such as effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, and friction, alongside therapeutic communication and body mechanics.
MTD-208 – Advanced Massage Techniques
Building on foundational skills, students learn deep tissue work, myofascial release, joint mobilization, lymphatic drainage, and advanced neuromuscular techniques.
Health Sciences and Clinical Safety
MTD-209 – Health and Safety
Students learn infection control, WHMIS, microbiology, and public health principles to ensure a safe and professional treatment environment.
MTD-210 – Endocrinology
This course introduces students to hormonal regulation, glandular anatomy, and endocrine pathologies relevant to massage therapy and client care.
Neurology Series
MTD-211 – Neurology 1
Students explore neuroanatomy, central nervous system development, and common neurological disorders such as ALS and MS.
MTD-212 – Neurology 2
Focuses on peripheral nerve pathways and injuries, including brachial and lumbar plexus disorders, spinal nerve lesions, and reflex testing.
MTD-213 – Neurology 3
Covers the autonomic nervous system, cranial nerves, pain physiology, and disorders like Bell’s palsy and autonomic dysreflexia.

MTD-214 – Pathology 1
Students study skin conditions, burns, infections, and immune disorders, with a focus on clinical signs and safe treatment adaptations.
MTD-215 – Pathology 2
Focuses on bone and muscular pathologies, trauma, degenerative conditions, and neurological diseases affecting massage therapy protocols.

Covers gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiovascular, and lymphatic system disorders. Students analyze case studies and treatment modifications.
Assessment and Remedial Skills
MTD-216 – Physical Assessment
Students develop hands-on assessment skills, including ROM, muscle testing, orthopedic and neurological exams, and treatment planning.
MTD-221 – Remedial Exercises
Students learn to design and teach rehabilitation exercises for mobility, posture, strength, and recovery support for various populations.
MTD-220 – Kinesiology
Focuses on biomechanics, joint movements, gait analysis, posture evaluation, and muscle function related to massage therapy.
Hydrotherapy and Treatment Modification
MTD-217 – Hydrotherapy
Students learn the therapeutic use of hot/cold applications, contrast therapy, and hydrotherapy techniques for acute and chronic conditions.
MTD-222 – Pathological Treatments
Students modify treatment protocols for clients with fractures, arthritis, neurological syndromes, and systemic disorders through condition-based clinical application.
Communication, Ethics, and Business
MTD-223 – Professional Communication in Massage Therapy
Teaches professional verbal and written communication, SOAP note documentation, informed consent, and therapeutic relationship-building.

Covers professional ethics, resume development, GST registration, accounting basics, business setup, and marketing strategies.
MTD-218 – Professional Development & Human Relations

MTD-224 – Health Regulations & Jurisprudence
Students learn Ontario’s regulatory framework including RHPA, CMTO policies, client confidentiality, boundaries, and professional obligations.
Clinical Practicum Series

Students begin supervised treatments on peers, focusing on foundational techniques, communication, and client intake procedures.

Students progress to treating public clients under supervision, incorporating assessments, treatment plans, and documentation.
